Synopsis

A live Roxy Music album: another work-in progress from the band who helped define the rock record as an alternative to the process of repetition, restatement and reconciliation which the music industry had traditionally encouraged. Just as it is now seems inconceivable that British rock existed in the 70’s before Roxy Music exploded into public view in 1972, it seems impossible to confront the 80s with out a major release from the group whose influence and charisma continue to permeate the music scene.

Recorded in Denver and mixed in Nashville, ‘Live In America’ is further testimony to Roxy’s ability to outdistance and rise above its imitators and recent New Wave rivals. At once sophisticated and evocatively simplistic, tuneful and jarringly experimental, lyrical and dramatic, the new album is fascinating and utterly contemporary document of the bands continuing development.
