Synopsis
The legendary line-up: Iggy Pop: Vocals • James Williamson: Guitars • Ron Asheton: Bass • Scott Asheton: Drums – Additional musicians on keyboards: Scott Thurston & Bob Scheff •
For the most part the material stems from the 1973 so-called ""Detroit Rehearsal"" tapes that were recorded in preparation for a nation-wide Iggy & the Stooges tour following the release of the David Bowie-produced “Raw Power” earlier that year.
Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson were spitting out memorable songs like machinegun bullets, so the band was basically rehearsing brand new songs; all prime material destined for a fourth Stooges album, one which unfortunately never came to be, since they were dropped by their record label at the time. Fans would have to wait until the 2007 release of the Steve Albini-produced “The Weirdness” to pick up where the Stooges had left off nearly 35 years before.
The Stooges at the pinnacle of their musical powers! As a result you get the exciting, archetypical original proto-punk tracks, which have influenced contemporary Rock & Roll right up to the present day; all cylinders pumping, cranking out those solid riffs, The Stooges at their peak deliver a terrific sample of rare and alternative studio takes.
